Rwandan Youth in Switzerland Explore Labour and Investment Opportunities in Rwanda
On the margins of the 113th International Labour Conference, the Embassy of Rwanda in Geneva hosted a Rwanda Youth Networking Event on 13 June 2025. The gathering brought together young members of the Rwandan community in Switzerland for an interactive exchange with speakers including the Minister of Public Service and Labour, Christine Nkulikiyinka, the CEO of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF), Stephen Ruzibiza, and Swiss-Rwandan entrepreneur Dive Aristide.
Minister of Public Service and Labour Christine Nkulikiyinka underscored Rwanda’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people, both at home and abroad. She encouraged the youth in Switzerland to maintain close ties with their homeland, stressing that their skills and creativity are vital to Rwanda’s continued socio-economic progress. She also highlighted national programmes designed to empower young professionals and entrepreneurs, inviting the diaspora to take part in shaping Rwanda’s future.
Stephen Ruzibiza, CEO of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF), emphasized the dynamic role of the private sector in Rwanda’s growth. He presented investment opportunities across various sectors, from services and technology to agribusiness and manufacturing, noting that the private sector stands ready to partner with young Rwandans abroad. He called on participants to seize these opportunities and bring innovative ideas that can further drive Rwanda’s economic transformation.
Dive Aristide, a young Rwandan member of the diaspora who recently launched his own restaurant in Rwanda, shared his personal journey as an entrepreneur. His story of taking initiative and building a business back home inspired fellow youth to consider turning their talents and ideas into concrete ventures that contribute to Rwanda’s development.
In her closing remarks, Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa commended the youth for their interest in reconnecting with Rwanda and urged them to see themselves as key partners in advancing the nation’s progress. She stressed that Rwanda’s vision for the future depends on the active participation of its younger generation, whether in the country or abroad. She assured the participants that the Embassy stands ready to support initiatives that strengthen ties with Rwanda and encouraged them to transform dialogue into action.
The event concluded with networking and a convivial reception, leaving participants with a renewed sense of belonging and responsibility toward their homeland.
