Rwanda Engages International Organizations on the Sidelines of Political Consultations with Switzerland
On the sidelines of the second round of Rwanda–Switzerland Political Consultations held in Bern, Rwanda’s delegation held a series of meetings with Geneva-based international organizations on 2 September 2026.
The delegation, led by Marie Grace Nyinawumuntu, Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa met Ms. Maarit Kohonen Sheriff, Director of Global Operations at OHCHR; Mr. Mamadou Dia Baldé, UNHCR Regional Director for Africa; Mr. Mohammed Abdiker, IOM Chief of Staff; and Mr. James Reynolds, ICRC Deputy Director for Africa. Discussions focused on human rights, refugee protection, humanitarian and migration issues, and strengthening multilateral cooperation.
The delegation also met Mr. Patrick Osakwe, Chief of UNCTAD’s Division for Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes, as well as WIPO Counsellors Yves Ngoubeyou and Emmanuel Rugomboka, representing Ms. Loretta Asiedu, Director of the Africa Division. Discussions explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in trade and development, intellectual property and innovation in support of Rwanda’s development priorities.
