Ambassador Ngango presented the documents allowing him to represent Rwanda in Switzerland
On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Ambassador James Ngango presented to the President of the Confederation of Switzerland, Honorable Viola Amherd, the papers authorizing him to represent Rwanda in the country of Switzerland, in a ceremony held in the capital of this country, Bern.
In their conversation, Ambassador Ngango and President Amherd expressed their appreciation for the good relations between the two countries and continued on strategies to improve cooperation in the following sectors: education, health, economy and investment and the development of social welfare of the people.
This ceremony took place after in November 2023, the Ministry of Education signed an agreement with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation). This agreement aims to support the training and education program in vocational and technical schools (TVET).
The agreement also strengthens the partnership between Lucerne University of Tourism and Hotels and the Ministry of Education of Rwanda, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to establish a school of tourism and hotels in Rwanda. and to develop knowledge in the field of hotels. This agreement is also expected to increase the strength of the tourism and hotel sector in Rwanda, through the provision of education and model training for those who will work in this sector in the future.
Regarding International Organizations, on March 18, 2024, Ambassador Ngango, who was assigned the task of representing Rwanda at the United Nations Office in Geneva, participated in another important ceremony where he presented the Director General, Mrs. Tatiana Valovaya, with the letter of authorization to represent Rwanda. Rwanda in the United Nations. The ceremony was held at the Palais des Nations, the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva.
Regarding the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, Austria:
On April 19, 2024, Ambassador Ngango presented his credentials to Ambassador Ghada Fathi Waly, the Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna, authorizing him to represent Rwanda at the United Nations Office in Vienna.
On May 8, 2024, Ambassador Ngango presented his credentials to Ambassador Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and on May 9, 2024, Ambassador Ngango presented his credentials to Dr. Robert Floyd, the Executive Secretary, authorizing him to represent Rwanda at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
Rwanda and Switzerland have always had good relations and there is an expectation of wider cooperation in various development sectors, through the new political plan of the Foreign Affairs of Switzerland on the African continent 2025-2028. This plan will be presented to the Legislative Assembly of this country, no later than the end of this year 2024, so it will be implemented in the beginning of the year 2025.
