RWANDA TO PHASE OUT OLD GENERATION PASSPORT

The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein and Slovenia would like to inform  Rwandan community living in these countries that all old passports issued before June 27, 2019 will automatically expire on June 28, 2021.

Rwanda started to issue East African Community electronic passport in June 2019 following a directive by EAC heads of state in March 2016 to adopt the new generation passports and phase out variant documents.The new document is in compliance with the new EAC technical specifications as well as International Civil Aviation Organisation, making it admissible global.

Provided with your Identity Card,  applicants wishing to apply for a new biometric passport are encouraged to do so via Irembo. (  https://irembo.gov.rw/home/citizen/all_services  ).Once the request has been submitted, you will shortly receive an email inviting you to provide biometric data (photo and fingerprints) at the Embassy of Rwanda in Geneva.
