Rwanda Showcases Women Leaders at the United Nations
The Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the United Nations Office at Geneva took part in the photo exhibition “Not a Woman’s Job?: Women Leading in Multilateralism and Diplomacy”, launched at the Palais des Nations on 24 June 2025. The exhibition, organized by the Perception Change Project of UNOG, highlights women shaping global governance and advancing inclusive multilateralism.
Rwanda’s contribution featured two inspiring profiles. H.E. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), was presented as a leading voice for inclusive diplomacy grounded in dialogue, equality, and solidarity. Lieutenant Leoni Umutoni, Gender Focal Point of the Rwanda Battle Group serving under MINUSCA in Bria, Central African Republic, was highlighted for her role in integrating gender perspectives into peacekeeping operations and amplifying the voices of local women in mission activities.
Through these contributions, Rwanda underscored its commitment to promoting women’s leadership both in high-level diplomacy and in field operations, reflecting the nation’s broader vision of equality, resilience, and shared progress.
