Rwanda Participates in the 70th IAEA General Conference in Vienna

Rwanda is participating in the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which opened today in Vienna, bringing together more than 4,000 participants from 182 Member States to advance the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology.

Rwanda’s delegation is led by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Dr. Olivier Kabera. During the General Conference, Rwanda will present its priorities for applying nuclear science and technology to national development, including in energy, cancer care, food security, capacity building, and nuclear safety and security.

Rwanda will also engage with the IAEA and international partners to strengthen cooperation and advance practical initiatives in these areas, including preparations for NEISA 2027 in Togo.

The IAEA General Conference is the Agency’s highest policy-making body and provides a platform for Member States to discuss the Agency’s work and priorities in the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
