Rwanda participates at the IAEA Scientific Forum 2026
Rwanda participated in the High-Level Segment of the 2026 IAEA Scientific Forum, held under the theme “Rays of Hope: Delivering on the Promise of Cancer Care.”
Rwanda’s delegation, led by Minister of State Armand Zingiro, highlighted the country’s efforts to expand equitable access to quality cancer care, including investments in diagnosis, treatment and nuclear medicine.
A new nuclear medicine centre, equipped with a PET-CT scanner and cyclotron, is set to open in January 2027, strengthening advanced cancer diagnosis and enabling domestic production of radiopharmaceuticals.
The Scientific Forum provides an opportunity for Rwanda to exchange experience, learn from proven approaches and strengthen partnerships that can expand access to nuclear medicine and improve health outcomes.
