Rwanda and the International Institute for Diplomacy Partner to Strengthen Diplomatic Training and Capacity Building
Geneva, 9 December 2025 — The Government of the Republic of Rwanda, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Institute for Diplomacy (IID), headquartered in Switzerland, to strengthen diplomatic training and professional capacity building.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Rwanda by Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa, alongside IID President Pablo Demierre and Vice President Vincent Subilia.
This academic partnership establishes a framework for cooperation in diplomatic training, foreign policy–related learning, and the exchange of academic and professional expertise. It will support the participation of Rwandan diplomats in specialized training programmes in diplomatic practice, negotiation, international public law, communications, economic diplomacy, conflict management, public speaking, and multilateral diplomacy.
This cooperation forms part of Rwanda’s broader efforts to continuously strengthen the professionalism, effectiveness, and global competitiveness of its diplomatic service in line with evolving international relations and multilateral engagement.
