New Citizens Take Oath of Rwandan Nationality at the Embassy
At the Embassy, new citizens took the oath of Rwandan nationality, marking their official entry into the Rwandan community. The ceremony welcomed Stefan Kälin and Waita-Rwamushaija Josephine Kanini.
In her remarks, Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa highlighted that the acquisition of nationality is both a privilege and a responsibility, grounded in Rwanda’s legal framework and guided by the Constitution. She underscored the rights that accompany citizenship, including equality before the law, protection from discrimination, and the right to education, liberty, and family life.
The Ambassador also emphasized the responsibilities entrusted to all citizens, including respect for the Constitution and national laws, promoting unity and mutual respect, safeguarding national heritage, and contributing actively to the country’s socio-economic development.
