HRC63: RWANDA’S STATEMENT DURING THE INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE WITH THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE SITUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN BURUNDI

Mr. Vice President,

Rwanda thanks the Special Rapporteur on the report on Burundi.

We encourage Burundi to engage constructively with the Human Rights Mechanisms.

Rwanda recognizes that peace, security, and respect for human rights in Burundi matter to the stability of the Great Lakes region. Regional concerns should be addressed through dialogue, on the basis of facts and in a spirit of good neighborliness.

We encourage continued efforts to address human rights concerns through effective institutions and inclusive dialogue, alongside cooperation among neighboring states.

Rwanda remains committed to dialogue and cooperation in support of peace, security, and stability in the region.

We will come later to the unfounded allegations made by the country concerned.

I thank you.
