Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa Presents Her Letters of Credence to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria

Vienna, 10 March 2026 – Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa, Rwanda’s Envoy to Austria, today presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria.

The ceremony, held at the Hofburg Presidential Palace, marked the official commencement of Ambassador Bakuramutsa’s diplomatic mandate in Austria. Their exchange, reaffirmed the strong friendly ties between the two countries and the commitment to further strengthen Rwanda–Austria relations.

During her visit to Vienna, Ambassador Bakuramutsa also held engagements with Austrian officials aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and Austria in areas including trade and investment, innovation, tourism, cultural diplomacy and multilateral collaboration. 

On 9 March 2026, she presented her Copies of Letters of Credence to Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, in the presence of Ambassador Maximilian Hennig, Chief of Protocol, and Ambassador Dr. Stefan Scholz, Head of Department for Sub-Saharan Africa and the African Union. 

While in Vienna, Ambassador Bakuramutsa also met with Ambassador Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, Special Envoy to the Federal Chancellor of Austria. 

Rwanda and Austria enjoy strong relations and have cooperated through development partnerships, including projects supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation Agency (ADA) in areas such as water and sanitation, youth empowerment, employability, and the justice sector. Both countries continue to explore opportunities to further strengthen bilateral engagement.
