The first Rwandan Ambassador Presented credentials in September 2011, establishing the first diplomatic relation between the two countries.
Slovenia supported Rwanda’s campaign to the Security Council seat for 2013-2014.
Embassy of Rwanda has built excellent relations with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participated in most annual diplomatic and trade and business activities organized by the Ministry.

Through different visits and discussions, Slovenia is showing interests in strengthening our bilateral relations through diplomatic channels, but also to start formal political discussion. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia looks at Rwanda as an agent of stability in the Great lakes region and that they look forward to work more closely also at multilateral level (EU and UN). In order to strengthen our bilateral relations, Slovenia proposed to work together on both sides in assisting each other in appointing Honorary Consuls. Slovenia is ready to consider an offer from Rwanda and will assist Rwanda as well.
