Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa Presents Her Letters of Credence to the President of the Swiss Confederation

Bern, 23 October 2025 – H.E. Urujeni Bakuramutsa, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Swiss Confederation, today presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Karin Keller-Sutter, President of the Swiss Confederation, during a ceremony held at the Swiss Federal Palace in Bern.

The ceremony follows the first-ever Bilateral Political Consultations between Rwanda and Switzerland, held in Kigali on 3 June 2025, which paved the way for strengthened cooperation in education, health, innovation, and sustainable development.

Ambassador Bakuramutsa and President Keller-Sutter exchanged views on enhancing economic and investment cooperation, including progress towards a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) to foster a predictable and business-friendly environment encouraging economic cooperation. They also discussed collaboration between Rwanda’s Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC) and Swiss financial institutions in promoting sustainable finance, green bonds, fintech innovation, and impact investment. The conversation further emphasized private sector partnerships, innovation-driven investments, and the strengthening of cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding between both nations.

While in Bern, Ambassador Bakuramutsa also held meetings with officials from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to advance bilateral cooperation and strengthen existing partnerships between the two countries.

The presentation of Letters of Credence of Rwanda’s envoy to the Swiss Confederation follows the appointment of Switzerland’s Resident Ambassador to Rwanda on 15 October 2025.

Ambassador Bakuramutsa reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to advancing constructive and results-oriented cooperation with Switzerland.

END.
